Trimbakeshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Shiva, about 28 km from Nashik. The Brahmagiri hills above the town are traditionally the source of the Godavari, and the temple’s lingam is known for its three small faces representing Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

01How to reach

  • From Nashik city: about an hour by car, taxi or local bus.
  • Most visitors stay in Nashik and do Trimbakeshwar as a half-day trip.

02Darshan tips

  • Go early in the morning; weekend and Monday queues are long.
  • A paid fast-darshan option is run by the temple trust — check current rules at the counter.
  • Phones and bags are not allowed inside; use the lockers.

03Kushavarta Kund and the Kumbh

During the Simhastha, the Shaiva Akharas take their Amrit Snan at Kushavarta Kund in Trimbakeshwar — the last one is on 12 September 2027. On those days the town is extremely crowded; plan darshan on a different day.
