The Simhastha Kumbh is spread over two towns — Nashik (Ramkund, Panchavati) and Trimbakeshwar (Kushavarta Kund), about 28 km apart. A good plan keeps you close to one of them on the day of your snan and uses the other day for darshan.

01Where to stay

  • Panchavati / old Nashik: closest to Ramkund. Best for elders, but rooms fill first and roads close on Amrit Snan days.
  • College Road, Gangapur Road, Mumbai Naka: most hotels and homestays; 4–7 km from Ramkund with shuttle or auto access.
  • Trimbakeshwar town: small dharamshalas and lodges near the temple — good for the 12 September Amrit Snan, very busy.
  • Nashik Road: near the railway station, convenient for short stays and early trains.

02Three sample itineraries

1. Kumbh snan weekend — 2N/3D from Mumbai or Pune

  1. Drive to Nashik, check in, evening Godavari aarti at Ramkund
  2. Early snan at Ramkund, Kalaram temple, Sita Gufa, Panchavati
  3. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga darshan and Kushavarta, drive back

2. Nashik Kumbh with Shirdi — 3N/4D

  1. Arrive Nashik, Panchavati and evening aarti
  2. Snan at Ramkund, local temples
  3. Trimbakeshwar darshan, drive to Shirdi (about 90 km)
  4. Sai Baba darshan, departure

3. From Delhi or Gujarat — 4N/5D

  1. Train or flight to Nashik Road / Nashik (Ozar), check in
  2. Ramkund snan and Panchavati
  3. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and Brahmagiri foothills
  4. Shirdi day trip or Sula / Someshwar side
  5. Departure

All three can be private (your own car) or group departures. See Nashik Kumbh 2027 packages or read the Nashik Kumbh dates and Amrit Snan list.

03Tips for snan days

  • Expect vehicles to stop well before the ghats — be ready to walk 2–4 km
  • Go early; Akhara processions get priority at the ghats
  • Carry a change of clothes in a waterproof bag and keep phones charged
  • Fix a meeting point in case someone gets separated
