Rishikesh is about 240 km from Delhi — leave on Friday night and you are on the Ganga by Saturday morning. It works for friends, couples and office groups, and it pairs easily with Haridwar.
01A 2-night weekend plan
- Friday night: Leave Delhi; reach Rishikesh early morning.
- Saturday: River rafting in the morning, beach camp check-in, bonfire in the evening.
- Sunday: Ram Jhula area, cafés and the evening Ganga aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth Niketan; drive back to Delhi overnight.
02River rafting season
Rafting usually runs from September to June and stops during the monsoon (roughly July–August) when the river is too high. Stretches are graded by difficulty — the shorter Brahmapuri–Rishikesh stretch suits beginners, while longer runs from Shivpuri and Marine Drive have bigger rapids.
03More to do
- Yoga classes at an ashram
- Bungee jumping and giant swing near Shivpuri
- The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia)
- Neer Garh waterfall walk
- Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri aarti on the way back
